Lily Newman, Founder & Executive Director
Lily began her 20+ year career in education teaching middle and high school English in Mexico and the US, prior to taking on leadership roles in education non-profit organizations. In this capacity she led school, district and state startup and redesign efforts, academic strategy and systems level work to support cohesive educational approaches that prepare students for college and careers. As a K-12 administrator in Massachusetts, Lily led the innovative redesign of high schools with CVTE, Early College and Innovation Career Pathway programs, and led the design and launch of one of Massachusetts’ first wall-to-wall early college programs where all students can earn an associate degree for free during high school.
Lily centers the communities and people she serves in all her work. She works side by side with partners to develop and implement customized, evidence-based solutions for each unique setting. She applies this approach in her independent consulting business, LaunchEDU, serving partners including DESE’s Office of Early College, district and charter leaders, and non-profit organizations such as Mastery Transcript Consortium and Springfield MA’s Hope for Youth and Families foundation.
Lily has contributed to numerous ELA curriculum modules and tools, and publications including Leaders of Their Own Learning, Management in the Active Classroom, and various articles and reports including TNTPs Opportunity Myth.
